I am not very good at keeping this little site updated, but the past twelve months have gone by in a whirlwind. Between school, the farm, the bookstore and our latest adventure of buying a a house in France we have been a bit busy. The farm has seemed to take a bit of a back seat to our other projects the past few years, but we are still working with full intention of providing more classes, more dinners and more activities in the future.
With the help of grant funds we have expanded our orchard and our pollenating plants. We have downsized our goat herd, but still have our main milking doe providing milk for soap. We butchered turkeys last fall, but are taking a break from poultry for a while, besides Turkirella...who was saved from the axe last November. It has taken us a couple years, but the apothecary space is almost complete. We are using the space as an extra kitchen for large dinners, canning projects and soap making classes of the future. The lavender this year is phenomenal! We are primarily growing grosso lavender which is a French hybrid variety with long stems, fragrant blooms and excellent for low moisture areas like ours.
